ACTive INquiry - Theatre of the Oppressed Training Workshops 2009

ACTive INquiry promotes increased participation in the arts as a catalyst for active involvement in society.

After great success in June's Leith Festival with Comfort Zone, Flashback Drama restarts on the evening of Monday 5th October. Flashback is a weekly devising group for adults.

Theatre of the Oppressed training with Julian Boal
Julian Boal will be coming over to Edinburgh to offer a training weekend on the 6th and 7th of February 2010. Details are still to be finalised, but if you are interested in attending then please feel free to email gavin@activeinquiry.co.uk and register your interest.

Devising Forum Theatre

This 2 day workshop will explore devising a piece of Forum Theatre from scratch with a group. It will explore identifying and tracking oppressions, using image as a starting point for Forum, the dramaturgy of Forum Theatre, characterisation and rehearsal techniques. No previous experience is required for this workshop

The Art of the Joker
This 2 day workshop will explore how to successfully Joker a piece of Forum Theatre. What does the Joker do before, during and after a piece of Forum? What is their relationship with the actors and the audience? What questions should they be asking? What do they do if no one wants to come up on stage?!
It will be expected that participants have a good general knowledge of Forum Theatre before attending this workshop or that they have attended Devising Forum Theatre.
