Quotations
Thoughts that can be useful (or just plain amusing!)

If you can't be a good example, you'll just have to be a horrible warning.
A friend!

A theatre is not only a literal place, but also a space where we dream together; not merely a building, but a space that is both imaginative and collective.  Theatre provides a safe frame within which we can explore dangerous extremities in the comfort of fantasy and the reassurance of a group.  If every auditorium was razed to the ground, theatre would still survive, because the hunger in each of us to act, and be acted to, is genetic.  This intense hunger even crosses the threshold of sleep.  For we direct, perform and witness performances every night - theatre cannot die before the last dream has been dreamt.
Declan Donnellan, The Actor and the Target

The only way to get what you really want, is to know what you really want;
And the only way to know what you really want, is to know yourself;
And the only way to know yourself, is to be yourself;
And the only way to be yourself, is to listen to your heart.

The truth is a storm of birds flying, the actor is the nest where they will rest, but only for a brief moment.  Actors train all their life to get ready for this brief moment.
Anatoli Vassiliev, Director

Acting is a sport.  On stage you must be ready to move like a tennis player on his toes.  Your concentration must be keen, your reflexes sharp; your body and mind are in top gear, the chase is on.  Acting is energy.  In the theatre people pay to see energy.
Clive Swift, Actor [from these acting quotes]

Perhaps more than anything else the ability to persevere is the single trait most needed by an actor. ... To be a working actor you may need luck: but you will certainly need talent, persistence and hard work.  And these are up to you.
James Duke, How to be a Working Actor [note - some specific info may be outdated]

The production will be suitable for community venues and secondary school audiences, in particular students of Drama and English. A workshop programme can also be offered.

Using only 3 actors and a minimal set, the 75 minute production will focus on the tragic outcome of the play and the events that set the wheels in motion that led to the deaths of "a pair of star-cross'd lovers."

The style is contemporary using Shakespeare's original text.
