Discover Fine Acting News

I am really looking forward to Shakespearean and Restoration dance with an expert international practitioner at the Historical Dance Workshop, 20th and 21st June - hope to see a lot of you there!

I am also rather busy this month, acting and directing, as well as coaching private students (see main site if you are interested) and this newsletter has been a little rushed - please forgive any errors / omissions.

On top of which, the new DF Acting course on General Acting starts on Wednesday, 17th June - there are a couple of places left for anyone wishing to join us.  Go on, you know you want to!

As always, read on for further news and events (remember ActorExpo is this month) and, of course, whatever you are up to - ENJOY!

Danielle Farrow

PERFORMANCES

Siege Perilous @ The GRV
- Self Help and Respect by Anita Gallo, directed by Andy Corelli
Siege Perilous presents its latest double bill of new writing in The GRV's new space, The Cube:

Self Help is a light-hearted romantic comedy about Victoria's quest for a soul mate or rather, a bed-mate! Surviving dodgy dating agencies, she discovers true empowerment and possibly more satisfaction than even she could have imagined.

Respect is a dark, disturbing thriller which reflects on how the excitement of a one-night stand can so easily and quickly twist in the sobering reality of daylight.

Tuesday 23rd to Sunday 28th June, 8pm; tickets £5.  Online booking or phone to reserve tickets: 0131 554 3005; further information - www.siegeperilous.co.uk

ALRA -
Unprotected by Esther Wilson, John Fay, Tony Green, Lizzie Nunnery; directed by Paul Robinson
Should you happen to be down south, you may wish to check out the ALRA students for free!

Two mothers remember their savagely murdered daughters; clients recall the women they've bought; the police and the politicans want to move it out of the resident's backyard; whilst the women themselves explain why they do what they do. Taken from actual interviews; these are true stories, using real words, debating the need to protect the women who walk the streets; and each argument has a human face.  First produced at the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool on 10th March 2006; Winner of the 2006 Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award

Tues 30th June - Fri 3rd July; ALRA, Wandsworth, SW18 3SX; tickets are free and are available by phoning: 0208 870 6475, or emailing: bookings@alra.co.uk

Thoughts of Interest

Thank you to Sharon Miller, of Joyworks, for this quote, excerpted from a workshop in Los Angeles on August 2nd, 1998 with Jerry & Ester Hicks:
"Life is supposed to be fun. . . .You cannot struggle to joy.  Struggle and joy are not on the same channel.  You joy your way to joy.  You laugh your way to success."

And quickly, just for fun, two clips:

Thanks to Laura Tough for Show Us Your Haggis! (You Tube)

And because I was recently reminded of how much I enjoyed this: Lordi's Hard Rock Hallelujah!

And that's it for another month!  As ever, if you want something included in the next newsletter, email d.f.acting@gmail.com making this request - and feel free to pass the News Page on to anyone who might be interested.

Until next time, then, and remember:

ENJOY!
